Nearly 1M Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles recalled over camera glitch

Automaker Stellantis is recalling nearly one million cars, trucks, minivans, and SUVs across its Jeep, Ram, Dodge, and Chrysler brands due to a software glitch that can block rearview camera displays. The recall affects vehicles from model years 2026 and 2027 in the United States and international markets, with no injuries or accidents reported so far.

The Scope of the Stellantis Recall Across Four American Brands

Stellantis NV launched an international recall affecting almost 1 million vehicles after discovering a radio software issue that disrupts backup camera displays on media screens. The massive service action hits all four of the automaker’s American brands, pulling in popular minivans, heavy-duty pickups, and rugged SUVs from the 2026 and 2027 model years. Stellantis NV is recalling almost 1 million vehicles over a software glitch that can disrupt vehicle backup cameras, the latest in a string of issues affecting rearview displays. The recall affects nearly 850,000 Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles in the US from model years 2026 and 2027, Stellantis said Monday in a statement. Another roughly 107,000 automobiles outside the US are also affected by the issue.

According to detailed figures released by the automaker, the domestic total accounts for 848,511 vehicles in the United States. Another 107,000 automobiles outside the US face the exact same glitch, with the vast majority of those international units sold in Canada alongside vehicles in Mexico and other global markets. The automaker explained the recall stems from an issue with the radio software that blocks the rearview camera from appearing on the media screen. Stellantis said Monday that it is recalling nearly 850,000 vehicles in the U.S. over a software issue that can disrupt the rearview camera display. The car manufacturer is also recalling another 107,000 vehicles in Canada, Mexico and other markets outside of North America over the same issue, according to the company’s notice.

Affected Models and Vehicles Included in the Service Action

The extensive list of impacted vehicles spans multiple vehicle categories and assembly lineups. Drivers across North America driving recent model-year vehicles will receive notices according to the company’s official notice issued on Monday.

  • Chrysler: 2026-27 Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager minivans
  • Dodge: 2026-27 Dodge Charger vehicles
  • Jeep: 2026 Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L and Wrangler vehicles
  • Ram: 2026 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups and ProMaster and ProMaster EV vans

Over-the-Air Software Fixes and Driver Safety Guidance

Fortunately, owners will not necessarily need to schedule a dealership appointment to resolve the display failure. Stellantis expects to remedy the issue through an over-the-air update, which will mean that owners will not need to bring their vehicles to the dealership for the fix. Drivers are advised to be on the lookout for a prompt that an update is available. Owners of affected vehicles in the U.S. will receive an over-the-air radio software update, Stellantis said Monday.

Official notification letters will begin arriving in the mail starting in September. For now, Stellantis advises people to use their mirrors and be aware of their surroundings if the camera’s rear view does not appear on the screen. Until the software patch reaches every affected vehicle, the automaker has issued basic operational advice for drivers experiencing blank display screens.
