Ahmedabad: Neeraj Chopra, India’s only gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, interacts with students from 75 schools in Gujarat. Neeraj Khand and his children at the Sanskardham School in Ahmedabad with Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging athletes to interact with and educate school children about the importance of a balanced diet, maintaining fitness and the importance of sports. Students from 75 schools in Gujarat came to see India’s Golden Boy in person.
Neeraj Chopra answered all the questions of the children and also asked what is their favorite food. Neeraj said that his favorite food is vegetable biryani and he loves to make vegetable biryani. Neeraj also said that it is better to add vegetable biryani curd which is prepared without adding too much spice. Apart from being a healthy food, Neeraj also said that vegetable biryani is the right mix of vegetables and carbohydrates. Neeraj said that cooking helps one to stay away from the rigors of training and stress.
Neeraj also spoke about the Fit India Quiz. Neeraj said the students’ answers to some of the questions were astonishing and that they had a vast knowledge of the subject, adding that with proper discipline and dedication, all of them could reach new heights. Earlier in the day, the Sanskardham Educational Society honored Neeraj.
Addressing the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes interacting with school children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said that athletes should interact with school children and create awareness about the importance of a balanced diet, maintaining fitness and the importance of sports.
Athletes, including Neeraj Chopra, visit schools across the country as part of a joint venture between the National Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare and the Ministry of Education. Apart from Chopra, Tarundeep Rai (archery), Sarthak Bambri (athletics), Sushila Devi (judo), K Siga Ganapathi and Varun Thacker (sailing) will be visiting various schools across the country for the next two months.
