Chancellor Karl Nehammer spoke to the US broadcaster NBC about his meeting with Russia’s ruler Vladimir Putin. According to Nehammer, Putin remains “in his own logic of war” when it comes to Ukraine. The Kremlin chief believes he is winning the war.
Nehammer was the first European leader to meet Putin in Moscow since Russia began its invasion on February 24. Nehammer was also criticized for this. “We have to look him in the eye and confront him with what we see in Ukraine,” he said yesterday.
Nehammer said he confronted Putin about what he saw in Bucha and “it wasn’t a friendly conversation.” Putin said he would “on the one hand cooperate with an international investigation, and on the other hand he told me that he doesn’t trust the western world. So that will be the problem in the future.”
