Nehammer plans car summit | SN.at

Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) is planning a car summit. In the coming weeks, he wants to discuss options for financing research on e-fuels with manufacturers, he announced on Sunday in the ORF “press hour”. Nehammer is reluctant to comment on the ECB’s call for RBI to withdraw from Russia.

The head of government pointed out that Raiffeisen Bank International is not the only financial institution still operating in Russia. At the same time, he emphasized that the bank is also active in Ukraine and is a systemically important bank there. During a conversation with the Ukrainian President, he did not ask him regarding the RBI.

In principle, RBI, like all banks, must comply with international laws and regulations. Now we have to wait and see how the decisions are made.

The compromise on combustion cars at the EU summit in Brussels was positively received by Nehammer. He trusts science when it comes to e-fuels. The aim must be to export “our technology” to the markets of the future, he pointed out to the boom in climate-damaging coal-fired power plants in China.

The chancellor also rejects nuclear power being pushed by France: “We are clearly once morest it.” However, he also pointed out that this is a transitional period. Nuclear power is also used in Austria.
