A man managed to rescue a minor who jumped from a bridge into the Aysén river, and a policeman who tried to help her, while the deep, icy waters of the flow prevented him from doing so.

Yesterday afternoon a 13-year-old girl was rescued by a man after having fallen into the icy waters of the Aysén River in the area of ​​Puente Presidente Ibáñez, in the Aysén region.

in conversation with Express Bío Bío of La RadioGuido Valenzuela, the so-called “hero”, recounted how he was able to rescue the minor and also a police officer who tried to save her, but was unsuccessful.

In the instance, Guido said: “I thought it was an accident, I turned around and I saw that a lump fell into the water, and it was a girl. That is, a person who had thrown into the water“.

“The carabineros passed by my side, they took off their boots, but the cold in the water was so great that they could not. One of the police officers came close to the girl, but he could not grab her because the cold consumed him, ”said the construction master.

In that scenario, the “hero” saw that the uniformed men could not rescue the girl. “There I told myself, ‘Now po’ Guido, you’re here for something, take off your clothes and duck into the water‘. It had to be done, I threw myself and got the girl out, we also tried to get the policeman out where we made a chain. I had to let go and I went to rescue him, they were the heroes, I was just an expectant who could solve it, ”she indicated.

“She is hospitalized, but fine”

After the brave action, the man explained that he never thought about the cold, he only thought about the girl. “The parents called me, they told me that she is hospitalized but fine. She told them they wanted to meet me,” he stated.

“I didn’t realize how cold it was, but it burned me, I was hypothermic. But since I had to go to work, I took my clothes and left (…) Then I went back to the house and I was embracing the combustion for about 2 hours”, concluded the teacher Guido Valenzuela.
