It was in the station district of the city of Saint-Nicolas, between Ghent and Antwerp that a comical scene took place overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, as reported by Het Laatste Nieuws.
Shortly before midnight, two Polish burglars stealing from a residence on the corner of Jan Breydelstraat and Begijnenstraat were caught in the act. Attempting to escape, they were met by a group of approximately seven people from the neighborhood determined to punish the thieves.
When the police arrived, the two burglars were already badly beaten up, one having suffered a broken leg and the other a head wound which was bleeding profusely. The police then stopped the brawl and the two thieves were then transferred to the hospital.
