The car of a septuagenarian was hit by a train on Monday, in Saint-Cergues (F). The unfortunate man died instantly.

Fatal collision on a level crossing, in the town of Saint-Cergues, not far from the border. Around 5 p.m. on Monday, a TER train which was making the Annemasse-Evian connection struck a car which was on the railway, relates “The Dauphine Libere“. The driver, a 74-year-old man, was killed instantly. According to the first elements, the barriers would have worked correctly. An investigation should determine why the vehicle got stuck in the lane. Rail traffic was interrupted and the 70 passengers on the train were picked up by buses.
