The NEOS continue to push for the public broadcast of investigative committees. At the National Council meeting on Wednesday they want to submit a corresponding request for a deadline. To date, there have been no serious ambitions to implement live broadcasts, NEOS MP Yannick Shetty criticized the “turquoise-green announcement policy” in a statement to the APA. All parties had previously spoken out in favor of it.

“Empty empty words that are not followed by action. We know this all too well from the ÖVP, especially when elections are coming up,” shot Shetty, NEOS parliamentary group leader in the U-committees on COFAG and the “Red-Blue Abuse of Power,” especially once morest the People’s Party. This initially linked the live broadcast to an overall reform of U-committee law. In November, the ÖVP signaled its willingness to tackle the issue of transmission in isolation.

Shetty appealed to the other political groups to support the motion. NEOS said this must then be discussed in a committee by March 1st. The COFAG committee will start its surveys on March 6th and 7th.

Instead of a “mud battle,” Shetty hopes the live broadcast will bring transparency. In this way, citizens would see “which party is interested in real enlightenment and which is interested in political change.” Interests worthy of protection should be protected and the presiding judge should decide following hearing the parties, the procedural judge and the procedural lawyer whether such interests exist.
