NEOS on the press hour: Greens are responsible for the lack of climate protection

Vienna (OTS) – “It is completely irresponsible that the SPÖ itself wants to prevent important climate protection laws with their threatened total blockade. But the fact that we have had to wait years for the climate protection law or the energy efficiency law is due to the failure of the turquoise-green federal government,” NEOS climate and environment spokesman Michael Bernhard reacted to the ORF press hour with Green club chairwoman Sigi Maurer. Despite justified criticism of the SPÖ’s actions, Maurer cannot now deny responsibility for long-standing legal matters: “That’s nothing but a lame excuse,” said Bernhard.

“For three and a half years, this federal government has brought nothing together even without an SPÖ blockade. To talk yourself out of this SPÖ blockade for the remaining one and a half years of this legislative period is a farce,” said Bernhard. After all, there are enough outstanding laws in the area of climate protection that the government can prepare without a two-thirds majority. “The standstill in climate protection and the energy transition, which Maurer rightly warns about, is in fact largely home-made.”
