Neptune statue at Leopoldsbrunnen in Innsbruck is missing an arm

The police reported a bizarre theft from the Tyrolean capital on Pentecost Sunday. Unknown perpetrators had damaged the Leopold Fountain on Innsbruck’s Rennweg on Sunday night and taken the right arm of the bronze Neptune statue with them.

The statue of Neptune had been ripped off its pedestal and fallen into the well, breaking off its right leg and arm. When the figure was recovered from the well, it was revealed that the right arm was missing.

According to the police, the perpetrator or perpetrators must have been at the destructive work between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. The exact amount of damage was not known for the time being.
