If we do not know what is the duration of this measure or finally what it really represents on the quantities taken from its boreholes, but it is already a sign. The giant Nestlé Waters (brands Vittel, Contrex, Perrier, etc.) has decided to suspend the use of two of the six boreholes dedicated to its Hépar water in the Vosges. “Nestlé Waters is facing, like its entire industry, deteriorating weather conditions, with more frequent and intense events, such as regular droughts followed by heavy rains, which affect the operating conditions of certain drilling on its site in the Vosges”, indicated the group, confirming information from the daily Vosges Matin.

Sensitive boreholes

“In this context, two of the boreholes intended for the production of the Hépar brand have been identified as particularly sensitive, due to their shallowness, to climatic hazards”, which affects “the availability of water resources in these boreholes. This makes it very difficult to maintain the stability of the essential characteristics of natural mineral water”, continues the same source, according to which Nestlé Waters has decided to “suspend” their use. The production of Hépar water, “continues with the four other boreholes whose operating conditions are not affected” and Hépar products remain “available for its consumers and distributors (…) within the limit of available quantities”, says the group.

Nestlé Waters indicates that “new projects will be implemented” from this spring “in collaboration with local stakeholders, assures the group, to continue its environmental roadmap and continue to protect the water recharge area from climatic hazards”. .
