“Netanyahu Optimistic About Israel-Saudi Arabia Normalization in Historic Conflict Resolution Effort”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considered, on Monday, that the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia would represent a “huge leap” towards ending the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Netanyahu added, during a meeting in Jerusalem with Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, “We want normalization and peace with Saudi Arabia. We consider that this could be a huge leap towards ending the Arab-Israeli conflict.”

“This agreement could have great and historic consequences for Israel, Saudi Arabia, the region and the world,” he added.

Israel began establishing diplomatic relations with several Arab countries since 2020, including the UAE and Bahrain. But Riyadh refrained from recognizing Israel, saying that such a move must be linked to achieving the goal of establishing a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu suffered a major disappointment last month when a China-brokered deal restored relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Israel’s main rival in the region.

On the other hand, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, on Monday, that it had asked China to put pressure on Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

“I spoke to Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang about the danger we see in the Iranian nuclear program, a danger shared by many countries in the region, including countries that have diplomatic relations with Iran,” Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said in a statement.
