Germany goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer missed the team’s training again today, Tuesday, before the scheduled match against Liechtenstein, on Thursday, in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
Neuer, 35, suffered an ankle injury during Bayern Munich’s match against Borussia Dortmund, in the German Super Cup on August 17, but then participated in the match that Bayern won over Hertha Berlin 5-0, last Saturday, in Bundesliga.
The picture is not yet clear about Neuer’s readiness to participate in the match scheduled for Thursday evening, which is the first for the German national team under the leadership of its new coach, Hansi Flick.
Germany occupies third place in the tenth group in the qualifiers, with six points gained during the first three rounds of the group matches, where they beat Iceland and Romania, and then received a surprise defeat against North Macedonia 1-2.
After facing Liechtenstein, the German national team will host its Armenian counterpart, next Sunday, before visiting Iceland, next week.
All 25 other players in the German national team underwent training, including goalkeepers Bernd Leno and Kevin Trapp.
