Workers, interns and researchers of the Conicet made a national “noise” in light of the layoffs that were notified yesterday in the organization. This measure affects the country’s scientists and also those of the region. In Bariloche, this morning they mobilized to demonstrate their discomfort at the confirmation of 50 layoffs nationwidewhat includes two workers from the mountain city in the administrative and human resources sector.
From the Board of Directors and Management of the IPEHCS-CONICET-UNCo (Patagonian Institute of Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences) They published a statement in the same vein. They expressed their concern regarding the decision of the CONICET Board of Directors, published on January 16, to postpone the publication of the results of the call for Scholarships and Promotions of Researchers until the final budget is configured.
In the letter they assure that this statement creates uncertainty of those who have competed to obtain doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships throughout the country, as well as those who have requested promotions in the scientific career. They also express that said decision of the Board of Directors violates the right of those who are applicants to know the results of the calls to which they have been submitted and strongly weakens the Argentine Scientific System. This decision reflects “a clear adjustment policy”, the statement says.
They also explain that: «to this situation are added the notifications received for dismissals of the administrative staff dependent on the organization, making the functioning of the institution more fragile. On the other hand, Art. 9 personnel who have more than a year of seniority in the organization, have since yesterday received work contracts for a period of three months – framed in Decree 84/2023 -, which adds greater concern. and precarious working conditions.
And the Board of Directors also lists a series of demands: the prompt publication of the results; the cessation of layoffs, reincorporation of laid-off workers and reversal of contracts quarterly personnel reports Art. 9 and finally, the approval of the 2024 budget.
