Musk revealed that Neuralink is now trying to ensure as many mouse clicks as possible from the patient. The transplant took place last month after securing approval for a trial last September.
As part of the study, a robot surgically places a brain-computer interface implant in an area of the brain that controls the intention to move, Neuralink said, adding that the initial goal is to enable humans to control a computer cursor or keyboard using the their thoughts.
Musk has big ambitions for Neuralink, saying it will facilitate the rapid surgical placement of its chip devices to treat conditions such as obesity, autism, depression and schizophrenia.
Neuralink, which was valued last year at around $5 billion, has faced repeated calls for scrutiny over its security protocols. Reuters reported last month that the company was fined for violating US Department of Transportation rules on the handling of hazardous materials.
