According to initial reports, the third-party application Asobi bridges a massive architectural gap by introducing remote play support for PS4 and PS5 titles straight to portable and desktop Linux hardware like the Steam Deck. Beyond local remote play from a console, the software allows users to leverage PS Plus Premium cloud streaming directly. This means subscribers can stream supported titles over the internet without ever plugging in a Sony console.
The system requires an active PS Plus subscription and a standard PlayStation Network account to authenticate and access titles. However, hardware owners cannot stream their entire library indiscriminately. Access depends entirely on Sony’s official cloud catalog, meaning only specific purchased games and titles included in the rotating PS Plus Premium subscription tiers will boot through the app. VideoCardz first highlighted these catalog limitations, noting that compatibility mirrors Sony’s existing server-side restrictions.
