New Apple ad highlights Health app privacy

Apple today shared another one of its very humorous commercials, this time to highlight the care of the application Health (Health) with the privacy of users, preventing sensitive data from being shared with third parties without proper permission.

Directed by filmmaker Craig Gillespie (“Cruella”), the campaign also features narration by the actress Jane Lynch (“Glee”), which reveals the health secrets of a series of people in a waiting room. After sharing some pretty compromising things — like a guy’s hemorrhoids and an elderly man’s lice — the mysterious voice is finally stopped by a patient who uses the Health app on her iPhone to protect her data.

Quite creative, the video is about a minute and a half long.

The commercial, it is worth noting, also won a dubbed version in Brazilian Portuguese, but which is much shorter than the original version in English, with only 38 seconds in duration.

You can check it out below:

Afraid of your most personal data falling into the wrong hands? The Health app on iPhone helps you control who sees your health data and who doesn’t. When it comes to health, privacy matters.

Along with the two videos, Apple also released a document [PDF] which details all of the Health app’s privacy features. They range from end-to-end encryption from service to resource family sharingas well as tweaks for third-party apps.

The company also highlighted in this document that, if the user has activated two-factor verification in their account and configured a passcode on their iPhone/Apple Watch, not even the company itself can access data from the Health app.

Fun, isn’t it?
