Today, on Lenin Square, opposite the monument to the leader of the world revolution, a column of new blue Volgabass lined up.
35 middle-class buses arrived in Astrakhan as part of a large-scale transport reform that has been implemented in the region since the beginning of this year.
Each bus carries at least 50 passengers, 26 seats are provided for seating. The cabin has climate control, an audio notification system, cashless payment machines. There is a folding platform for people with limited mobility.
The first batch of “Volgabas” will connect 6 main routes. They will cover the villages of Sovetsky and Streletskoye, the microdistricts of the Military Town, Kazachy, Astrakhan-2, as well as directions towards the airport, the village of Novolesnoye, Rozhdestvensky and Funtovskoye highways.
In total, about 190 middle-class buses are planned to be produced on the roads of Astrakhan. At the third stage of the transport reform, small-class routes will be launched. They are expected to be at least 156 units. They will run to remote areas of Astrakhan.
The authorities promise that by the end of the year 48 routes will be launched in the region – these are 83 large-class buses, 225 medium-class buses and 156 small-class buses.
The keys to 35 Volgabasovs were solemnly handed over to the Governor of the Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin by the Director General of the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) Evgeny Ditrikh. Last year, STLC supplied buses to Astrakhan under the Safe High-Quality Roads national project, and this year under a new investment project using funds from the National Wealth Fund
It is planned that 191 more middle-class buses will arrive in the region within two months. According to the regional Ministry of Transport, the new rolling stock will enter the routes very soon. The buses are already being registered, specialists are adjusting the system, completing the staff of drivers and conductors.
Routes 19, 28, 30, 63 and 45 will most likely be the first routes they will appear on.
