New chassis, new nose: Aston Martin presents the AMR24 and longs for first green victory

Madrid, Feb 12 (EFE).- “Score points regularly, reach podiums and fight for our first victory in green”: these are, in the words of its director, Mike Krack, the goals for the 2024 season of the Aston Martin team. , which this Monday presented the AMR24 with which it will compete in the next championship.

With design innovations to the chassis, nose, front wing, front suspension and rear suspension, “the continued refinement of the AMR24 has resulted in a lighter and more aerodynamically efficient racing car, designed to operate in a range of circuits”, according to the team of Spanish Fernando Alonso and Canadian Lance Stroll.

“Almost every aspect of the car has been refined and improved, taking advantage of our strengths and assimilating the lessons of the previous campaign,” said Krack. In 2023 the team achieved eight podiums and 280 points.

Dan Fallows, technical director, explained that, even within the same regulations, “there are infinite possibilities for improvement” that they have tried to take advantage of.

“I would say that the AMR24 is a great evolution of last year’s car and looks quite different, with many new parts that provide us with a solid development platform. The chassis design is new, as is the nose, the front wing “, the front suspension and the rear suspension. We want to compete in the development race this season and this car is designed for that,” he said.

For Fernando Alonso, the presentation of the new car fuels his desire to start competing.

“I am incredibly proud of this team and what has been achieved in such a short time. I always enjoy this feeling at the start of a new campaign and this season will be my 21st as a Formula One driver. The entire team has worked overtime to prepare the AMR24, but there are many questions to answer in the tests and in the first races. I am eager to get in the cockpit and start my second season in green,” said the Asturian driver.

Lance Stroll recalled for his part that it is “a young team”, but one that is growing quickly.

“There is hunger and faith when you walk around campus, a credit to all the incredible people who work here. We all want to surpass what we accomplished last year, especially towards the end of the season when we made great progress, learning more about the car. I think that prepares us very well for the new season and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.
