New Cross-Border Transportation Agreement Enhances Mobility in Wallonia and Luxembourg

Thanks to the concerted work of the Belgian and Luxembourg administrations and the agreements between the Ministers of Mobility of Wallonia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, this historic so-called “cabotage” ban has now been lifted, the Walloon administration announced on Friday.

“Until now, we had to see buses from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg circulating in Wallonia without our fellow citizens being able to take advantage of them. This administrative singularity has been lifted, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Minister for Mobility, François Bausch. Thanks to this decision, mobility in the Province of Luxembourg is greatly improved”, welcomed the regional Minister for Mobility, Philippe Henry.

In concrete terms, 5 cross-border lines are concerned. They make it possible to reach Arlon, Bastogne, Messancy or Saint-Vith by public transport from the surrounding localities served by the RGTR network in addition to the TEC offer. For these lines, users will need a Regiozone cross-border ticket or subscription to travel outside the territory of the Grand Duchy, where public transport has been free since March 2020.
