New electricity consumption record: more than 100,000 users in the AMBA were left without light

In the midst of the persistent heat wave that widely exceeded 30°C, this Monday the national electricity system registered a historical demand peak for one business day after reaching 29,089 Megawatts (MW). Said consumption is due to the high temperatures that are being registered by the heat wave. At the same time, a total of 132,698 users of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) do not have electricity.

According to a report from the Wholesale Electricity Market Administration Company (Cammesa), at 3:15 p.m. the new record for power demand of the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) was registered, with 29,089 MW. In this way, it exceeded by 527 MW the maximum reached last Friday of 28,562 MW.

The heat does not stop and more than 20 thousand users of AMBA and CABA suffer power outages

Of the total, almost half of the demand was concentrated in Greater Buenos Aires, where the figure amounted to 11,169 MW. In second place was the province of Buenos Aires, with a consumption of 3,368 MW, followed by the NOA region with 2,591 MW and the center of the country with a similar figure of 2,577 MW. Where there was less consumption during the historical peak was in Comahue, with 837 MW.
