New Era in Vehicle Inspections: TURKA to Take Over in 2027 with AI and Zero Commission

Turkey’s vehicle inspection landscape is entering a transformative new era. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the official concession agreements for the 2027–2047 operating period will be signed in Ankara, paving the way for the next-generation TURKA vehicle inspection system.

A Multi-Billion-Dollar Technological Leap

The transition marks the conclusion of the initial privatization framework launched back in 2004, which saw its first private-sector stations open on August 15, 2007. According to official figures released by Minister Uraloğlu, the network has processed over 210 million vehicle inspections over the past nineteen years, including over 50 million re-inspections. As the current operational term nears its expiration on August 15, 2027, the MOI OGG joint venture—operating under the brand name TURKA—will take over the nationwide network under an investment program involving approximately 3 billion dollars.

The upcoming network is designed to solve long-standing bottlenecks by expanding total infrastructure across all 81 provinces. While current operations rely on 219 fixed and 102 mobile stations, the upcoming TURKA era will scale operations up to 352 total locations, featuring 249 fixed sites, 103 mobile units, and approximately 900 individual inspection lanes. Major metropolitan areas will see the addition of high-capacity eight-channel inspection stations.

Artificial Intelligence Meets the Inspection Lane

TURKA’s operational model moves past traditional manual checks by integrating artificial intelligence, automated machine vision, and real-time data analytics directly into the testing process. According to implementation details reported by Yeni Asir, the upcoming infrastructure relies on multi-point high-resolution cameras, laser-based scanning systems, and automated sensors designed to enforce rigid standardization across the country.

Advanced imaging systems will evaluate vehicles dynamically while still in motion, reading tire sidewall specifications, cross-checking tire-to-vehicle compatibility, and measuring tread depth contactlessly. High-resolution undercarriage scanners will automatically detect structural chassis damage, cracks, cuts, or bulges, while robotic systems will manage headlamp calibration and lighting diagnostics.

Zero Credit Card Commissions and Digital Transparency

Beyond technical upgrades, the new concession agreement addresses widespread consumer friction points regarding payment processing and administrative fees. Minister Uraloğlu explicitly highlighted that starting August 15, 2027, TURKA will absorb all transaction costs for credit card payments, ensuring that vehicle owners face zero commission fees or hidden service charges when settling inspection bills.

The entire consumer journey is also shifting toward total digitization. Vehicle owners will be able to track inspection queues live via on-site digital information screens, access official test reports instantly through online platforms, and monitor technical status updates in real time. Modernized waiting lounges equipped with accessibility features and live monitoring feeds aim to turn a historically tedious chore into a streamlined consumer experience.

As Turkey prepares for the handoff to the new operator, the groundwork laid by this two-decade framework guarantees that vehicle safety standards will run hand in hand with modern engineering. What are your thoughts on integrating automated AI diagnostics into routine vehicle checks? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
