This is a new day of free rabies vaccination and deworming for pets, which in this case will be done in the city of Lambaré, within the framework of the AutoCAN 2024 edition organized by the National Zoonosis Control Program and National Anti-rabies Center (PNCZ and DOG).
The objective of the initiative is to achieve the goal of certifying the elimination of human rabies transmitted by dogs in Paraguay.
Rabies vaccination is recommended from the pet’s third month of life, then booster doses are applied at 30 days and six months. Subsequently, vaccination is carried out annually, throughout the life of the animal.
During the event, diagnosis for canine visceral leishmaniasis, adoption of pets and awareness of zoonotic diseases will also be provided.
AutoCAN is a vaccination modality aimed at applying the anti-rabies dose to canines and felines from the comfort of the car. The vaccination activity can also be accessed by walking or from other means of travel.
