New green skills training action for 25,000 unemployed and employed 2024-03-17 11:16:54

The above was mentioned by the commander of DYPA and National Coordinator of the European Year of Skills Spyros Protopsaltis, pointing out at the same time that the goal is to have half a million citizens certified in digital and green skills by 2025.

“Our goal is to have 500,000 citizens certified in digital and green skills by 2025. Already, through the programs of the Public Employment Service (DYPA), 260,000 Greeks have completed vocational training programs and received certifications” stated, among other things, the commander of the DYPA in an interview with APE-MBE.

At the same time, Mr. Protopsaltis mentioned that in the next period, new DYPA training actions are coming for a total of 131,000 citizens.

As he said, “the funds that will be allocated reach 1 billion euros only for training and retraining programs, while in total the Recovery Fund will channel resources of 3.5 billion euros into Greece for the development and strengthening of skills, aiming for 60% of adults to enter a lifelong learning program by 2030.

In particular, the first action will “run” within the next month and will concern the training of 25,000 unemployed and university workers, with the object of green skills. In May, the training of 10,000 unemployed and employed people will follow, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI training), as well as the training of 1,000 unemployed people in advance digital skills, while, after the end of the training, their placement in job position.

Also, in June, training programs for 30,000 unemployed people in digital and green skills (digital and green certificates) will be opened and, from September, professional driver training actions will be implemented for 10,000 unemployed people, as well as security personnel for 5,500 unemployed people.

At the same time, Mr. Protopsaltis underlined that DYPA, in the context of its will to contribute practically and actively to the more effective coupling of labor supply and demand, with tools that, however, will overcome outdated logic and have an innovative character, proceeded to implement actions to in this direction, such as the “Career Days”, the new series of advisory services events “Job Ready by DYPA” and the “Open Days”.

Mr. Protopsaltis also emphasized that emphasis is also placed on programs and actions aimed at strengthening the cultivation of “new generation” skills.

Finally, when asked about the upcoming changes to the unemployment benefit, the DYPA administrator clarified that the unemployment benefit will not be reduced, but the aim is to make it fairer, more front-loading and more remunerative.

“In this context, we are considering, always in the context of the pilot application, the benefit to be increased at the beginning, because the sudden dismissal causes many shocks to family planning, as well as changes to the long-term unemployed benefit, so that someone who has worked for more than 20 years and contributed to the system having the support of the State for a few more months after 12” he said characteristically.
