New history textbooks for grades 10-11 can be used in the first courses in all higher educational institutions in Russia. This was stated in a conversation with URA.RU by Associate Professor of the Faculty of History of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, candidate of historical sciences Yuri Borisenok.
“We can say that these are not quite school textbooks. They can be used in humanitarian universities when studying Russia and not only. The mass study of national history is just beginning in the first years of all higher educational institutions of the country. It just so happened: unified textbooks and the beginning of teaching Russian history in universities, which is of a systemic nature, ”said Yuriy Borisyonok.
The candidate of historical sciences noted that the new textbooks are full of various additional information. “There are QR codes, links to feature films, literature, that is, a lot of work has been done. A variety of illustrations, a well-built system of dates, a clear presentation. These textbooks are not intended for continuous memorization. We are dealing with literature that can be used as a reference,” he specified.
“Earlier, in some textbooks, even the Battle of Stalingrad was not mentioned. Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted accordingly. Now, by the new academic year, as the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov said, unified textbooks for the two highest grades were delivered to all schools in the country. Two textbooks on the history of Russia for grades 10-11 and two textbooks for the same grades on general history. The period that has been studied in these two classes since 1914, from the First World War, ends with our present. In the 11th grade, the post-war eras are studied, and the two world wars were included in the content of the 10th grade textbooks, ”explained the associate professor of Moscow State University.
Earlier URA.RU reported that history textbooks for high school brought to all schools in Yekaterinburg. The new edition presents the causes and course of the special operation, the confrontation between the Russian Federation and the West. Initially, it was assumed that the books would not have time to publish in 2023, and they would go to schools only in 2024.
