Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on changes in the payment of maternity capital. Now it will be paid only to Russian citizens at the time of the birth of a child, while the newborn must also have Russian citizenship by birth. The corresponding document was published on the official website for the publication of legal acts.
“The right to additional support measures arises at birth <…> adoption of a child [имеющих] Russian citizenship,” the document notes. The law will come into force on January 1, 2024. Residents of the LDPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, payments will be made regardless of the time frame for acquiring citizenship.
