New leak reportedly reveals nearly full spec sheet for Samsung Galaxy Watch

A new leak has revealed most of the remaining details about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 ahead of the company’s scheduled Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, according to Android Authority. The reports, which draw on information from a WinFuture report, outline significant hardware shifts, including a transition in processing power and upgraded battery capacities.

Perhaps the most significant change under the hood is a shift away from Samsung’s own Exynos W1000 chip. According to reports, the upcoming smartwatches will instead utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite SW6100, a chipset Samsung announced earlier this year. This new processor will power a suite of connectivity features across all models, including Bluetooth 6.0, NFC for contactless payments, and dual-band WiFi. While the exact WiFi standard remains unconfirmed, the devices will continue to offer LTE variants. In terms of memory and storage, the models will feature 2GB of RAM, with storage capacities reaching up to 64GB depending on the specific model.

Display technology is a major focus for the new lineup. The 40mm Galaxy Watch 9 is reported to feature a 438 x 438-pixel display, while the 44mm Watch 9 and the Watch Ultra 2 will utilize a larger 480 x 480-pixel screen. Notably, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, a figure revealed by Samsung leaker Ice Universe. This would represent a significant increase over the 3,000-nit peak brightness found on the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. Battery capacities are also receiving notable upgrades. The physical construction of the watches differentiates the standard model from the high-end variant. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to feature a titanium casing and 100-meter water resistance. In contrast, the standard Galaxy Watch 9 will continue to use an aluminum build and is rated for 5 ATM water resistance. All models in the upcoming series are expected to ship with Wear OS 7, running on Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch interface.
