Last Wednesday, May 1, the new Legislative Assembly came into office, corresponding to the period 2024 – 2027. This legislature begins with the reduction from 84 to 60 deputies present in the Blue Room of the legislative palace.
«The deputies who make up the 2024-2027 legislature enter the Blue Room to be sworn in and take possession of their positions. We are committed to enforcing the will of the Salvadoran people. “El Salvador will continue on the path towards transformation,” the Legislative Assembly detailed on social networks.
During this plenary session, various transformations were established, such as 8 new commissions: Commission Salvadorans Abroad, Legislation and Government, Commission on National Security and Justice, Commission on Children and Social Integration, Commission on Infrastructure and Territorial Development, and Commission on Technology, Tourism and Investment.
Likewise, the internal code of the Legislative Assembly was reformed with the following provisions: the president of the Assembly may convene ordinary and extraordinary plenary sessions, the Board of Directors and commissions; There will be eight permanent commissions and they will be able to meet remotely.
