It has been repeatedly stated that the Minsk Automobile Plant is currently in a difficult situation. The enterprise is highly dependent on the Russian market, to which in certain periods it exported up to 90% of all products. However, in our country recently not only the share of Chinese trucks has significantly increased, but also the number of similar vehicles of domestic brands (mainly URAL and KamAZ) has increased. Under these conditions, MAZ needs new products. And, as the experience of recent years shows, the company is quite capable of coping with the task.
She previously collaborated with JAC, with whom she produced vans and commercial vans. The Chinese brand can restore this partnership. But this time the parties are likely to be engaged in the production of cars. One of them could be the new MAZ-103 Shouk 2024, rendered by an independent designer. The car is a kind of analogue of the Renault Megane of past years. However, the Belarusian novelty will cost less than the French model.
The fact is that the MAZ-103 Shouk will combine the features of different cars. So, JAC will help in the development of this model by providing high-tech electronics and, possibly, a platform. But the Belarusian company will probably borrow the technical part from AvtoVAZ. Moreover, it is possible that the Volga Automobile Plant will provide the platform. With this approach, MAZ will really be able to create a relatively inexpensive hatchback. This option is also beneficial for AvtoVAZ, since the domestic company does not yet plan to produce its own cars in such a body. That is, by cooperating with the Minsk Automobile Plant, it will not create new competitors for itself in this way.
Probably, the new MAZ-103 “Shawk” 2024 will be equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with a return of 106 hp. The Belarusian novelty will not receive a less powerful version of this unit, since the car will be positioned as an inexpensive replacement for the Renault Megane. The equipment for the presented model will be borrowed from JAC. Thanks to this, MAZ will be able to avoid shortages of components and ensure uninterrupted production of the car.
It is not yet known how much this new product will be priced at. Most likely, about 1.5 million rubles will be requested for it.
