New Mitsubishi ASX: the list of engines

Let’s be honest, the future Mitsubishi ASX will be a derivative of the Renault Captur and it will have nothing to do with the previous one Mitsubishi ASX which was produced from 2010 to 2021. Assembled in the same factory in Valladolid in Spain, this new model takes up the CMF-B platform of the French model. In order to distinguish itself from its technical cousin, it will display a style a la Mitsubishi (in particular its front face), an original design of which one can get a small idea on the illustration proposed by the Japanese manufacturer.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid

Under its hood of the new for Mitsubishi, since the ASX will be entitled to a hybrid engine HEV, it is a European first for the mark. This engine combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors: an “e-motor” and a high-voltage starter of the HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator) type. This model is equipped with a 1.3 kWh battery and a multimode automatic gearbox with claws. Power: 145 hp. CO2 emissions: 107-113 g/km. And that’s not all since there will also be a rechargeable hybrid with a thermal block, associated with two electric motors and a 10.5 kWh battery. The multimode automatic transmission will also be dog-on-hand. Mitsubishi announces a power of 160 hp and CO2 emissions of 30 to 31 g/km depending on the finish.

Gasoline blocks too

The engine range of this city SUV will be supplemented by two petrol engines. First of all, we will be entitled to a 1.0 MPI-T three-cylinder turbo with a power of 91 hp. It will be associated with a six-speed manual gearbox and will reject 132 to 136 g/km of CO2. Next will come a more powerful engine, a four-cylinder turbo 1.3 DI-T. It can be associated with a six-speed manual gearbox (140 hp, CO2 emissions from 130 to 134 g/km) or a box (DCT7). We will then be entitled to a power of 158 hp and CO2 emissions of between 131 and 137 g/km.

Thanks WHO ? Thank you Renault Captur

As you will have understood, these are Renault Captur engines adapted to the Japanese model. This technical association makes it possible to significantly reduce development and production costs. The possibility for Mitsubishi to offer two new models (remember that the future Mitsubishi Colt will be technically close to a Renault Clio) in synergy with the Losange, this is what allowed Mitsubishi to change its mind and stay in Europe, when it was expected that the Japanese brand would leave the old continent. This also allows Mitsubishi to acquire models quickly, the future Mitsubishi ASX will indeed be unveiled in September 2022 for a launch in spring 2023. We will then know the prices of this model which according to our estimates should be offered at a lower price. than that of the Renault Captur, in order to attract customers more easily.
