Plant “Moskvich” presented a new model
The Moskvich plant presented a new model, which was called Moskvich 6. The car is a converted version of the Chinese Sehol A5 Plus: it is more of a liftback, but in Russia the novelty is positioned as a sedan. Production and sale of the model is scheduled to start in the second half of the year. Prices will be announced later.

The technical characteristics of the machine are kept secret. The Chinese twin of the novelty is equipped with a 1.5-liter TGDI turbo engine with a capacity of 190 hp, which is paired with a seven-speed “robot”. It is not excluded that a less powerful unit will also be included in the engine range of the novelty.
Sales of new cars in Russia collapsed by 44.7%
In Russia, 153,477 new passenger cars were sold in the first quarter of 2023, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB). This figure is 44.7% less than in the same quarter last year. As for March 2023, during this time 48,414 cars were sold in Russia, which is 10.6% less than in 2022. At the same time, last month, new car sales were higher than February 2023. Then 41,851 cars were sold in the country.
The leader of the domestic market remains the domestic AvtoVAZ, which sold 64,240 new cars, which is 22% more than a year earlier. In second place is the Chinese Chery with 18,927 cars sold (+204%). Haval closes the top three – the company’s sales increased by 100%, to 16,639 units.
A new Chinese auto brand has appeared in Russia
Kaliningrad “Avtotor” began production of Chinese cars BAIC. So far, the company is producing the BAIC U5 Plus sedan and the BAIC X35 crossover. The start of sales of both new products will take place in the second quarter of 2023. Car prices start from 1,699,000 and 1,698,900 rubles. respectively. At the moment, cars are assembled using the SKD method.
Also on the Russian market will be available frame SUV BJ40 Plus. The car will debut in our country in the only Flagship configuration and will cost from 3,759,000 rubles. The car will receive a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 225 hp. and an eight-speed automatic. Later, the X55 and X7 crossovers will debut in Russia.
The authorities proposed to increase fines for driving without OSAGO
In Russia, fines may be increased for drivers not having OSAGO policies. This proposal was made by Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev. As the official said at a meeting in the Federation Council on the topic “OSAGO: balance of interests of insurance organizations and vehicle owners”, the punishment for such a violation should be commensurate with the driver’s fault.
“The fine must be at least 5 thousand rubles. And from the position of the courts, this should not be a continuing violation – at least every day he should receive a fine, ”Moiseev emphasized.
Changan began sales of the flagship crossover in Russia
The Chinese company Changan began Russian sales of the seven-seat crossover CS95. Car prices start from 3,999,900 rubles. For this money, the client will receive a crossover with a two-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 220 hp. The unit works in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system.
Externally, the CS95 resembles Land Rover models. The car received a large grille, LED optics, lights combined into a continuous strip and aggressive bumpers. The cabin has a digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch touch screen. Options include a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, climate control and all-round cameras.
400 new traffic cameras installed in the Moscow region
More than 400 new traffic cameras have been installed in the Moscow region. As the Autonews.ru correspondent was told in the regional administration, all complexes are located in potentially dangerous areas, places of concentration of accidents. The cameras are able to recognize 25 types of traffic violations, including an unfastened seat belt and the use of a phone while driving

Geely launched sales of a new crossover in Russia

Genesis unveiled a new coupe crossover
Genesis has unveiled the GV80 Coupe coupe concept. The car differs from the standard GV80 with a new G-Matrix grille, a CFRP roof, and narrow LED headlights. In the interior of the car, four sports seats trimmed with Nappa leather, a three-spoke steering wheel, a horizontal screen of the multimedia system and a digital instrument panel were installed.
Technical details of the car are not yet known. The standard GV80 comes with three powertrains to choose from. In basic versions, the car receives a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. A six-cylinder turbodiesel is also available for installation. But the most powerful trims have a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. Its power is 380 hp. and 530 Nm of torque. Probably, for the GV80 Coupe, the engine lineup will continue.
Named “World Car of the Year”
This year’s winner of the prestigious World Car of the Year (WCOTY) award was the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan. The BMW X1/iX1 and Kia Niro also competed. The expert jury of the competition includes more than 100 automotive journalists from around the world.
In addition to being named World Car of the Year, the Korean sedan also won Electric Car of the Year and Design of the Year, outperforming Lucid Air and Land Rover Range Rover in these categories. A year earlier, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 became the winner of the award. This model also became the first in the categories “best design” and “best electric car”.
