Until now, it was mandatory to go through the WhatsApp cloud to transfer conversation history between an old and a new smartphone. It is now possible to use WiFi.
When you switch to a new smartphone, WhatsApp has so far offered to send your chat history to the messaging service’s house cloud and then find them on your new device. A free service, but which has its limits.
Now, WhatsApp offers you a WiFi transfer service, which greatly facilitates this transfer of chats.
The function is only available between two devices of the same operating system, namely between two iPhones or two Android terminals. The advantage, selon Mark Zuckerbergis that “if you want to transfer your WhatsApp chats to a new phone, now you can do it more privately, without your chats ever leaving your devices”.
The function is accessible in the application settings, under the Discussions tab, and is called Chat transfer. It is already available.
