New OÖN series “Our Forest”: 100,000 trees for our country

Sustainable, versatile, consistent: this is the forest. And at the same time an important part of our homeland that we should protect and preserve for future generations. Especially because it plays an important role as a CO2 store in climate change. More than 50 percent of Austria’s area is forested, the forest creates around 300,000 jobs, and without forest our CO2 balance would be 30 percent higher.

Together with our partners and readers, in our new OÖN series “Our Forest” we not only want to provide information about its most important aspects and functions, but also actively do something and plant 100,000 new trees for Upper Austria. You can become a part of it yourself and support the campaign as a tree sponsor.

In the series, which will last eight weeks, we will approach the topic of forests in four categories: tree science (how do I recognize trees, etc.), wood as a material and economic factor, the forest and its important role as a buffer for climate change and not least as a recreational area for people and a habitat for animals.
