New Opportunity for Low Energy Performance Housing Owners: Rent Indexation resumes in Wallonia from November 1

2023-11-01 07:44:00

Owners of low energy performance housing located in Wallonia will be able to index their rent once more from November 1. Indexation was frozen last year in the context of a sharp rise in energy prices, to protect people living in poorly insulated housing.

Since October 2022, only the rents of accommodation displaying a PEB A, B or C certificate might be fully indexed, with other PEBs imposing limited or completely prohibited indexation (for PEB F and G). This measure ends on November 1 due to a return to normal energy indices.

The freeze on the indexation of rents for energy-intensive housing has already ended in Flanders since October. In Brussels, all landlords can also index their rents once more.
