“Our deepest fears about the number of children killed, which became dozens, then hundreds and finally thousands, came true in just 15 days,” agency spokesman James Elder said at a news conference in Geneva.

“It breaks my heart to see children around me fighting for a glass of clean water and not being able to find it,” Elder quoted one of her Unicef colleagues.
“And then there is the trauma,” the agency spokesperson warned, arguing that when the fighting stops, the cost to children and their communities will affect generations to come.
“We need an immediate humanitarian ceasefire,” Elder urges, while asserting that more than a million children in Gaza are living a “nightmare.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his military operation in the Gaza Strip has entered its third phase, which includes the expansion of ground operations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Furthermore, he specified that “the second phase, the bombardment from the air, continues all the time.”
