New Payment Reminder Policy in Belgium: Important Changes Starting September 1st

2023-08-19 19:37:08

There will be change from the first of September, reports the Gazette of Antwerp. Companies will no longer be able to invoice the first reminder when payment is late.

The costs can only be incurred during the second reminder. The first reminder will give the consumer at least two weeks to pay the amount owed.

Our colleagues specify that the fees requested following the second reminder will be capped: 20 euros if the invoice is less than 150 euros; 30 euros + 10% of the amount if it is between 150 and 500 euros; 65 euros + 5% of the amount for invoices over 500 euros.

Companies that do not comply with this new measure are liable to financial penalties.
