New Kardian is the first of eight production models revealed during the announcement of the Renault brand’s “International game plan 2027” in Rio de Janeiro on October 25, 2023.
With a historic industrial presence in several regions of the world, Renault will begin production of New Kardian at the Curitiba plant (Brazil). Secondly, it will be produced at the Casablanca factory (SOMACA) in Morocco.
Renault will take advantage of the performance of its industrial system by manufacturing its future international vehicles in the 13 industrial sites already installed in the heart of the relevant markets, in Latin America, Turkey, North Africa and the Gulf countries, in India & Asia Pacific. This modern industrial system continues its transformation and pushes all the cursors to become more competitive, more flexible, driven by new technologies (industrial metaverse) and environmentally friendly (low energy and water consumption), in order to support the decarbonization strategy of Renault Group’s industrial sites.
The SOMACA factory, both efficient and flexible, will add New Kardian to its catalog. The industrialization of this new model at SOMACA, a pioneering factory in the national automobile industry, reinforces Morocco’s role as a major industrial platform for the Group. Today, Morocco is Renault Group’s second largest production country globally, representing 17% of the group’s global sales.
During his visit to Morocco earlier this month, Luca De Meo, Managing Director of Renault Group, announced that the group’s production capacity in Morocco will be increased to 500,000 vehicles per year by 2025.
New Renault Kardian is a compact and urban SUV in the B segment. We find Renault DNA at the heart of its design, both in its style and in its equipment. New Kardian inaugurates a new modular and ultra-versatile platform from Renault Group, which will make it possible to develop a wide diversity of models, for numerous markets outside Europe. The ultra-flexibility of this platform will make it possible to offer customers very different bodywork and silhouettes. The New Kardian “made in Morocco” will be intended for the local market and for export. In Morocco, New Kardian will be marketed during the second half of 2024.
