Universidad Católica has experienced an irregular semester in sports terms. Out of the Copa Sudamericana, they are fourth in the tournament, five points behind the leader, Huachipato, although with one game less. Of course, his game, except for sparks, has not convinced too much and the cross fans demand changes.

And there are going to be changes, not only from the sporting point of view, but also from the institutional point of view. And it is that at the UC they are puffing up with the progress made in the works of the new San Carlos de Apoquindo and they already have a glimpse of what the stage will be like once it is inaugurated.

César Azcárate, architect of IDOM, the company in charge of the project that is being carried out in the foothills, gave details of what is being done and how the works are progressing, which originally have a delivery deadline of March 2024.

The professional pointed out, in conversation with the club’s official channel, that “all this revolution that has taken place in football stadiums, in the last 10 to 15 years, and that has been experienced in Europe, we think that it is the right time to to be able to transfer it to Latin America”.

“We have tried to make available all our knowledge and all the good practices in this project, with the help of Cruzados and the club,” he added.

He also pointed out what the new venue will affect the match environment, highlighting that “a stadium that goes from having only one bleacher to having two levels, to having boxes and hospitality and also having a roof, will make up a new football atmosphere that is going to be incredible”.

“This is going to redound to the good of the fans, to their comfort and above all to making it a stadium that calls for even more passion,” he added.

It is worth remembering that Universidad Católica is playing its home games in both Rancagua and Santa Laura, although they are betting on the recovery of the grass in the Independencia campus in order to establish their location there while waiting for the new stadium.
