Towards the end of the week, the Ministry of Finance’s bill with the provisions of the new Tax Procedure Code is expected to be submitted to public consultation.
The new Code aims, among other things, to change the way citizens communicate with the Tax officebringing significant changes.
As information from newsit.gr points out, the most likely day for the start of the consultation is Friday (22.3.2024). Thus, in addition to the arrangements for the automatic declarations of E1 for 1 million employees and pensioners, the digital/electronic communication of the Tax Office with the Taxpayer regarding the notification of deeds, other documents and files is universally introduced, providing the advantage of accurately recording the of these transactions, as a result of which the time, form and content of the communication cannot be challenged judicially.
With the new provisions of the Tax Procedure Code, it is foreseen to utilize the possibilities of interoperability with the information systems of other public bodies for the granting of proof of awareness, while the obligation of professions and businesses that keep haplographic books to present books is abolished, as the data is universally transmitted through of the myDATA digital platform.
In addition, it is foreseen to automate the preparation and submission of tax returns, so that employees and pensioners, who have no other source of income, are not even required to submit tax returns and their tax liability is determined automatically.
Finally, with the bill, the concepts of partial, full and remote audit and the corresponding orders are defined and the scope of the audit order is related to the audit report, the maximum duration of the tax audit is defined and the gravity of the cases of recent years is strengthened, instead of of the older ones, in the criteria for selecting cases to be audited.
