A billion people suffer from a lack of vitamin D. A genetically modified tomato could reduce the problem.
Scientists from Great Britain have developed a vitamin D-rich tomato variety. A medium-sized fruit of the new variety produces as much of the vitamin that is important for bone formation as 2 eggs or 30 grams of tuna, the researchers wrote in the journal last Monday «Nature Plants» published study.
