Stib officially inaugurated on Monday, in the presence of the Brussels Minister for Mobility Elke Van den Brandt, its new tram line 18, connecting Albert station (Forest), its terminus, to Van Haelen station (Uccle). The CEO, Brieuc de Meeûs, also attended the inauguration

After three years of work, the managers of the Brussels transport company revealed the first stage of reconfiguration of the Albert station. Located near the Parc de Forest, this station should accommodate three tram lines by 2030 as well as the future metro line 3 between Evere and Forest.

Line 18 retains the route of the current tram 51 in its southern part and will keep the same frequency. To continue north, you will have to change trams at Albert.

Albert station is equipped with a lift for people with reduced mobility and has two underground levels. The tram lines are located at level -1. The level below, meanwhile, will house the terminus of the future metro line 3 in the future.

Tram line 51, for its part, will remain permanently split, explains Stib, but the southern part of the line will continue its route beyond Altitude 100. It will now run under number 18 between Van Haelen stops. and Albert where it will have its terminus. The northern part, between the Stade and Gare du Midi stops, retains line number 51.
