Reports of a new covid strain spreading in England are spreading fear. The latest variant of Covid, EG 5.1, was first detected in the UK last month. Reported by This variant is known as Eris. Eris was classified as a new variant on 31 July. The spread of Covid is once more increasing internationally, especially in Asia. Omicron’s successor, the Arcturus XBB.1.16 variant, is the most widely reported in the UK.

The World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a warning that the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing once more.
