The public prosecutor’s office of Mons indicated on Monday that new victims are being identified in the case of the mad driver of Mons. Investigation duties are still in progress to reconstruct the chronology of the night of June 8 to 9.
“Some are incapacitated for work, for the time being, until September”, specified the prosecution, stressing that the acts committed by the individual on the Grand-Place of Mons would not be the only ones with which he is accused ” .
The individual, a Frenchman in his forties from the Tourcoing region, drove his car into several people on the night of June 8 to 9, 2023, injuring six victims (five physically while a sixth had been badly shocked by the incidents ).
The man was apprehended by local police within hours of the incident. He was charged and placed under arrest warrant for six attempted murders and for malicious obstruction of traffic. He is also known to Belgian justice for acts related, in particular, to narcotics. He was also sentenced to prison in France for events similar to those in Mons, which occurred in Lille in 2012.
