That’s what it’s about

  • A cat sneaked into the suitcase of a Brooklyn man unnoticed.

  • When the traveler was at the baggage check, the authorities saw the animal through the X-ray machine.

  • The animal remained completely relaxed throughout the incident.

When a passenger’s suitcase rolled through the X-ray machine at New York’s JFK Airport, an official from the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) took a close look. Besides the usual things you would take with you on a trip to Florida, such as sundresses and flip flops, there was something else: the life-size outline of a cat.

The officer then asked to open the suitcase. He immediately noticed the cat hairs sticking out of the luggage. When the TSA employee ripped open the lid of the suitcase, there was actually a cat lying there, quite comfortably. Even when the suitcase was open and several pairs of eyes were watching her, the animal lay relaxed and didn’t even try to run away.

Authority wanted to investigate because of possible animal kidnapping

The traveler told authorities that the animal did not belong to him but to his roommate. As “NY Post» found out the cat’s name is Smells and it belongs to 37-year-old Alix from Brooklyn. Her pet apparently snuck into the man’s suitcase while she wasn’t home.

Alix found out about the incident when a TSA officer called and asked if she wanted to file a complaint against the man for possible animal abduction. “He wanted to know if there was a reason why he could have tried to steal my cat and go to Florida,” says the woman. The authorities even wanted to put the man on the no-fly list.

missed flight

Alix assured them it was a mistake. “Our cats are curious when they see bags and boxes,” she explained. Apparently one of them climbed into the suitcase. “It was just an accident,” says Alix.

Alix’s friend picked the animal up at the airport, it still seemed completely unfazed by the incident. “I was afraid she would freak out, but she didn’t even meow on the way back,” he says. “I gave her some extra treats and she acted like nothing happened.”

In the end, the TSA did not turn on animal protection, as «CNN» reported. But the traveler missed his flight and had to be rebooked on a flight the following day.
