The Finnish winger suffered a lower body injury – most likely his left leg – when he took a nasty fall near the boards in the offensive zone on Monday.
The sequence occurred in the second period of the game against the Buffalo Sabres, and the team later clarified that he would not return to the game Monday night.
Kakko left the ice grimacing in pain, with the help of Rangers athletic therapists.
