New York Roll: The round croissant that is sweeping social networks arrives in Murcia

The latest viral dessert is a round croissant. Surely you do not stop seeing it both on Instagram and on TikTok, and it is that it has become a sensation on social networks. Contrary to what one might expect, it does not come from Paris, but from New York, the city from which it takes its name. After having conquered other big cities like Sydney, Singapore or Madrid, the New York Roll landed in Murcia.

This eye-catching croissant was born in the lower part of Manhattan, on Lafayette Street. Specifically, the Grand Café & Bakery is responsible for this succulent creation: the ‘Suprême’. Since it was released, every day there are kilometric queues of tourists who go around the block, mobile in hand, to get hold of one, upload a photo of their purchase and, finally, try it.

There are all kinds of flavors and fillings. From the classic chocolate to the pistachio, going through more gourmet creations such as the coconut mojito or blueberry caramel and toasted pecans.

Where to try the New York Roll in Murcia

This sweet has not taken long to arrive in Spain. Pastry shops from Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia were the first to recreate this round croissant. In Murcia, it can be found in at least two pastry shops at the moment.

One is the El Rojo bakery, on Carretera de la Fuensanta 149, in Murcia. In this you can taste the New York Roll of Pistachio or chocolate. They made them this weekend and have baked more this Monday “at the request of some customers.”
