Today (Sunday), the spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdali, reviewed the developments in confronting the novel coronavirus pandemic in the Kingdom.
He explained, during the press conference on Corona developments, that this wave is the highest compared to previous waves, due to the speed of the spread of the “Omicron” mutant.
He stressed that there has been a significant acceleration in the number of injuries over the past five days, noting that an increase in the number of injuries is expected during the coming period, but the acceleration may decrease if precautionary and preventive measures are adhered to.
When asked about the possibility of giving a fourth dose of vaccines, he said that the currently recommended booster dose is sufficient to create an immune level capable of countering the “Omicron” mutant, stressing that the ministry will not recommend any additional doses until after ensuring its value and health benefit for people.
With regard to vaccines, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health recommended that pregnant women take the booster dose of vaccines, noting the importance of this dose in the current stages of the pandemic.
