The Public Health Authority recommended preparing the school breakfast bag for students in a correct manner, and the importance of the child’s participation in choosing its contents.

The authority advised to make sure that breakfast consists of all nutrients, and to avoid foods that are prone to spoiling due to the weather, such as eggs in hot weather, unlike peanut butter, which is suitable in summer.

The authority pointed out the need to replace white bread with whole-grain bread, as it is a rich source of fiber, which makes it more satiating.

She stressed that homemade cakes and biscuits are a great way to add vegetables, fruits and nuts to increase the nutritional value, noting the need to replace potato chips with homemade popcorn and sweets with dried fruits such as raisins.

The authority warned against excessive consumption of food coloring and preservatives found in sweets and canned foods, as it is associated with health hazards such as headaches, behavioral changes and hyperactivity.

She pointed out the importance of preparing the breakfast bag from the night before to save time, and the need to involve the child in choosing the components of his meal, which helps him to eat them.
