The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced the success of the first normal heart transplant operation for a Kuwaiti citizen in her sixth decade, who was suffering from advanced heart failure and did not respond to treatment.
The operation was performed by a Kuwaiti-Saudi medical team, headed by Dr. Khaldoun Al-Hamoud and Dr. Riyad Al-Tarzi, and a consultant cardiac surgeon and heart transplant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the Kingdom, Dr. Firas Khalil.
This operation is the second in the country and the first for a Kuwaiti citizen, while the Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, appreciated the continuous medical cooperation with the Kingdom.
