Kuwait has arrested 11 expatriates on charges of trafficking in women, the Interior Ministry has said. The group consisted of three men and eight women. They were arrested in the Jalib al – Shuyoukh area. They are from Asian and African countries, officials said. The arrested persons were handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.
They were arrested during a search operation in the Jalib Al Shuyoukh area of Kuwait. The home ministry said they had been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action. The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry arrested two women during a raid last week. Extensive searches are being carried out across the country to find the culprits.
Similarly, 13,000 foreigners were fired from government jobs in Kuwait in 5 years. According to the Civil Service Commission, the number of foreigners in the government sector has dropped from 79,000 to 66,000 due to the intensification of repatriation. Most of them work in the health and education sectors.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti cabinet resigned again. Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah arrived in Bayan Palace on Tuesday and handed over his resignation letter to Crown Prince Sheikh Mish’al Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Problems with parliament led to the resignation of the cabinet.
The resignation comes ahead of a vote of no-confidence against the Prime Minister in Parliament today. Sheikh Sabah became the Prime Minister in December 2019. He resigned three times following the no-confidence motion and later formed a new cabinet. The current government came to power in December 2021.
